shows the method by which Jesus would endure the punishment for the sins of the world. In the Old Testament of the Bible his death was prophesied:
Sinful men falsely accused him of awful crimes and sentenced him to death as a common criminal, even though he had lived the perfect life for all to witness.
When Jesus was crucified, he was totally without sin and not deserving of such punishment. However, while on that cross, he voluntarily took on the sins of the world, thereby taking on the punishment that each and every one of us deserved, for death is the penalty of sin.
At that specific point in time the sins of the world were paid for as Jesus hung and died on that cross.
