shows the method by which Jesus would endure the punishment for the sins of the world. In the Old Testament of the Bible his death was prophesied:

• Psalm 22:16 "For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet." (KJV)

BODY OF JESUS ON THE CROSS

Sinful men falsely accused him of awful crimes and sentenced him to death as a common criminal, even though he had lived the perfect life for all to witness.

When Jesus was crucified, he was totally without sin and not deserving of such punishment. However, while on that cross, he voluntarily took on the sins of the world, thereby taking on the punishment that each and every one of us deserved, for death is the penalty of sin.

• 2 Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (KJV)
• 1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." (KJV)

At that specific point in time the sins of the world were paid for as Jesus hung and died on that cross.
