Jesus Enters History
Jesus is the one and only Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father
and the Holy Spirit and has existed with them throughout all eternity.
About 2000 years ago, Jesus took on the form of a man by being born to
the VIRGIN MARY. This is why we celebrate Christmas!
- Matthew 1:20-2:1 But while he thought on these things, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou
son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which
is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name JESUS...Then Joseph being raised from sleep
did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called
his name JESUS.
- Luke 1:30-35 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for
thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy
womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be
great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall
give unto him the throne of his father David:...Then said Mary unto the
angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered
and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of
the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which
shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. (KJV)
- John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was
made. (KJV)
- Philippians 2:6-7 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider
equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking
the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
- John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and
we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth. (KJV)
He lived the perfect life and was the perfect evidence that God's Word
is Truth.
With no human father, Jesus had not inherited the nature to sin, but
nevertheless had the constant choice of whether or not to obey the Father.
With no personal sin, he chose to take on the sins of the world and suffer
the punishment for all mankind.
